Housing Associations and Co-ops
The Homesearch Team work with a number of Housing
Associations (Registered Social Landlords) in the Bath and
North East Somerset area. A Housing Association is a non-profit
organisation providing social rented homes at a reduced market
rate.
The Council have not owned any social rented homes since
1999, Housing Associations in the area took ownership of them
during a stock transfer. The stock transfer came about
following a ballot where the majority of tenants voted in favour of
the transfer.
The Council does however still maintain the waiting list for
these homes, the waiting list is called the Homesearch
register. Approximately, 75% of social rented homes are
allocated through the Homesearch register. The other 25% is
maintained by the Housing Associations to help them transfer
existing tenants. For a list of Housing Associations operating in
the area please see
information sheet.
