Housing Standards team can offer general advice on conditions in all rented properties, whether you rent from a private landlord or a housing association.

If you think your property requires repairs, the Housing Standards team can offer advice over the phone or in person during normal office hours.

We can give you advice on the following

• Advice on general housing condition standards and safety e.g. gas and electrical safety
• Advice on repairs your landlord should carry out
• Advice on fire safety and amenity standards for houses in multiple occupation. Houses in multiple occupations have shared kitchen or bathroom facilities or houses which have been converted into self contained flats.
• We will visit to assess the standard of accommodation and if repairs should be undertaken on reques
• If repairs are needed, we will contact the landlord and ensure where appropriate repairs are undertaken
