Homesearch news
Number of households on the Homesearch Register on 1 April
2010 = 8800
The number of households on Homesearch is still increasing by an
average of 60 a week. We now have 8800 applications on the
Register.
During the last 3 months we have housed 84 households, fewer
than 7 each week.
The majority of applications are registered in Group C (6468)
and at the moment people in this Group are usually waiting more
than 5 years before being housed, however, those who apply now may
be waiting considerably longer.
There are currently 5373 people wanting one bedroom
housing.
MUTUAL EXCHANGES
We have a large number of mutual exchange requests entered onto
the Homesearch website and, unfortunately, we have to delete
almost half of them because there are no contact details
entered.
If you are a social housing tenant and are adding your property
details to the Homesearch website please remember to include
your phone number and/or email address.
Number of Homes Advertised
Between 1 January and 31 March we have been able to advertise
101 social housing properties on the Homesearch website with over a
quarter (27%) of these properties being flats and bungalows for
older people (60 plus).
During this time 84 households have been housed so far, 66 into
general needs housing and 18 into housing for older people. A
number of people have been offered a property but not moved in
yet.
PRIVATELY RENTED PROPERTIES
Since January, when we started advertising privately rented
properties on the Homesearch website, we have advertised 4
family homes. The first one was let to someone on the
Homesearch register the same day it was advertised!
We will produce a newsletter every 3 months and would welcome
your suggestions of what you would like to see included.
