Disabled Facilities Grants are for essential adaptations that
are recommended by an Occupational Therapist to help a disabled
resident live independently at home.
Owner occupiers, private and public tenants and landlords can
all apply for a Disabled Facilities Grant.
Every applicant is means tested and the maximum grant given is
£25,000.
To apply for the grant we will need to visit your home and write
a list of works that can be paid for by the grant. You will need to
get two estimates for these works, fill in an application form and
provide proof that you own your home or that your landlord gives
their permission.
No work must start before your grant application has been
approved. We cannot pay for work that has already been started.
Once the work is complete, or when your contractor needs paying we
will visit your home again and check the work has been done.
Payments are made to you or the contractor if you
prefer.
If you require help with your application and you are elderly or
disabled then Care & Repair may be able to assist. They can act
as your representative and handle the grant application on your
behalf. They can be contacted on 01761 413030.
